Ragged Wood

This piece is actually based off of one one of my favorite songs: Ragged Wood by Fleet Foxes.  You can listen to the full song if you’d like, but basically it’s from the point of view of a guy who wants his love to come home.  There’s this really cool imagery in the beginning of the song where he’s asking her to come down from her lonely mountain and join him in spring and happiness and whatnot – and that’s really what I based this picture on.  To emphasize the duality between spring and the mountain, I did my best to make the grassy area bright and colorful and keep the mountain monochromatic.

I finished this in about 20-25 hours give or take using microns and colored pencils on Bristol.
